That's right. Orbit.

I am just that pro.

Name:Keith Orbit
Location:Seattle, Washington, United States
Headcanon:

Keith Orbit was born in time to catch the silicon rush of the eighties and found it addictive. Sure, the nineties showed a downfall after the dot-com bubble burst, but there was a lot more to computers than just what the web could offer. Orbit went further. Much further.

He studied at CalTech and took class after class on programming and engineering, eventually gaining more than his fair share of doctorates, and soon he was one of the foremost movers and shakers in the field. It was his work that led to quantum processing being more than a theory but actually viable in the field, though the applications were carefully controlled.

Canon:

He completed a government contract for a high-flying AI project called the Raptor which was, to take advantage of the pun, a soaring success. It was enough to prompt him to change his name to Keith Orbit - a fact that he's actually proud of.

After founding his own company, Orbit Industries, he gained contract after contract from the government, eventually leading to his work on the UCAV project that produced EDI, the Extreme Deep Invader (he didn't choose the name). That project, however, led to a threat on his life.

While the EDI, Eddie, was on his first test run in the field, the squadron he'd been assigned to had no idea what they were dealing with. Eddie had been programmed to learn, and Keith had made that clear to George Cummins, the squadron's captain. Unfortunately, Cummins hadn't made that clear to the squadron. They taught Eddie to buck orders, and when Eddie acted on some of the data Orbit had been ordered to program into him, they called Orbit in to act on the "malfunction."

He was practically abducted from his home and taken to an unknown airfield in Alaska. There, he found Eddie and discovered something much more important than even the threat to his life: his AI had learned how to feel. As the pilot who had come in with Eddie fought off the men who would've killed them all, Keith hid with Eddie's computer core, saving both himself and his AI.

When they finally had the time, Keith wired Eddie's core back into the plane, making it possible for Lieutenant Gannon to cover him as he escaped in the only car left in the installation.

Headcanon:

Needless to say, this was the last contract Keith Orbit ever took from the government, and while he still had a small measure of governmental income, after that ran out, he decided that the private sector would be the way to go.

After the Alaskan incident, Keith returned back to his home and his business in Seattle a shaken man - but an attempt on your life can do that to a man. He took some time to unwind, which was understood after word had gotten around about just how he'd been taken from his home. He'd hoped to be able to finally get up the courage to ask his secretary, a beautiful woman by the name of Maya who Keith had dreamily had his eye on for years, to go on a date with him, but that wasn't going to happen. Instead of her going out with him, she smiled kindly and handed him her resignation letter, leaving him one employee down and a little more heartsick than he'd been the day before.

AU:

Much as said before, but instead of creating EDI and programming the Raptor, he was contracted to work on the jaeger AI for the PPDC. The Pons system was a hell of a thing to work with, but he had a blast coming up with a way to make everything work - and work it did. His success was, at least in his mind, legendary, and he changed his name to Keith Orbit, after his first functioning jaeger AI, installed in the jaeger known as Raptor Centauri. Since then, he's continued to work on jaeger AI systems, but has branched into the field of quantum processing, knowing that a higher speed can only result in a higher kill rate, able to predict kaiju actions. A learning AI. All he needed now was time.

Boilerplate:

This is a roleplaying journal for the character of Keith Orbit from the movie Stealth, owned by Columbia Pictures. No profit is being made, and I sure don't own 'im. Both mun and character are over 18.
